What is your attendance policy?
Attendance will be taken at each class and is extremely important in the progress of each dancer. Every week, the students will be learning new skills and choreography and unnecessary absences are a hindrance to the student, teacher and fellow classmates. If you know that you will not be attending class, please notify the studio by email prior to the start of your class. If you are injured, you are still welcome and encouraged to come and watch class. Absences from dance classes are non-refundable. A student may attend an alternate class to make up for any missed classes. For missed classes, we strongly encourage students to meet with a peer or access a video of the choreography prior to the next class. Please make sure that students use the bathroom BEFORE class begins. An instructor has the right to request a student observe a class if they arrived late and are not properly warmed up or are not fully prepared for class.
Do you offer make-up classes?
No credit is given for student absences. A student may attend an alternate class to make up for missed classes. Make-up classes will be scheduled for classes canceled due to unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather.
How are we notified of weather cancellations?
If classes are canceled due to weather or emergencies, we will place information on our website, Facebook page, and in an email. Refunds will not be issued in cases of inclement weather. Two snow days are built into the full year program. If a class has more than 2 snow days we will be making that class up towards the end of the school year.
What is your parent watch policy?
We understand younger students may have difficulty separating to participate in class. We will work with the families to ease this transition but the expectation is that a child will participate independently in classes within the first 6-8 weeks of class. Generally, parents are not allowed inside the dance room to watch class. On occasion parents will have the opportunity to come in at the end of class.
Will my child have the same teacher each class?
Please understand that classes are subject to change based on enrollment or availability of an instructor. We will provide ample notice to families if any changes are necessary. The studio reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is ill or otherwise unable to teach classes. If a teacher is ill and cannot arrange a substitute, the missed classes will be made up.
What if I need to drop or change a class during the year?
If for any reason your child stops dancing, you are expected to notify the dance director immediately. A one month written notice must be given, along with a physician’s note if applicable. If your child drops dance class after November 15th you will still be required to pay for the full costume fee and the costume is yours to keep when it arrives. Remember that BOTH the registration fee and the costume deposit are Non-Refundable. Any changes in classes must also be discussed with the dance director.
